I build warm, practical software where people meet AI.

Independent maker behind Aardstroom Studio. I turn awkward forms and manual busywork into calm, conversational products — for law firms, health practitioners, and my own family.

Products I've designed & built

Small, focused tools — mostly conversational AI that meets people in their own language and hands professionals something clean on the other side.

Tributi.ai

Legal intake · live

Your intake form, in conversation. An AI chat that screens immigration & asylum cases, auto-translates between the client's language and Dutch, and hands the lawyer a structured consultation-prep summary. Built for solo and small NL practices — with wellbeing safeguards and EU-hosted, encrypted data.

Aardstroom

Family OS · self-hosted

A self-hosted "operating system" for our family — one warm dashboard for the shared agenda, tasks, journal, a knowledge library and local-events discovery. It even takes dev requests over Telegram and ships them itself. Runs entirely on our own VPS.

How I work

From idea to shipped — without cutting corners

I take products the whole way: designed, built, deployed, and safe to put real people's data into. The right tools for the job, not one vendor's lock-in.

🚀

Ship on modern rails

Vercel + Supabase as the backbone — edge-deployed frontends, Postgres with row-level security, auth and storage that scale. Prototype to production without a big-company runway.

🧠

Model-agnostic intelligence

I choose the right LLM per task instead of marrying one vendor — Claude, GPT, and open-weight models — wrapped in tuned prompts, guardrails and evals so the output stays trustworthy.

🔐

Security & data handling, done properly

I build alongside cybersecurity and data-protection professionals: EU data residency, encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access and GDPR-minded flows — essential when the data belongs to law firms and health practices.

Under the hood

How Aardstroom is set up

Everything is Docker Compose on a single VPS, versioned in git, with Caddy handling HTTPS. No SaaS lock-in — the family owns the data and the whole stack.

🔀 Caddy

Reverse proxy + automatic HTTPS. Routes every subdomain and serves the app as a single static file — edit, hard refresh, live.

🗂 PocketBase

Database + family login. Tasks, events, journal and notes live here; the app talks to it directly with the JS SDK.

⚙️ n8n

Automations: merged Google/Outlook/Airbnb calendars, a nightly family journal, local-event discovery and a Telegram AI chat.

🤖 Claude Code agent

A sidecar that takes dev tasks from Telegram, runs claude -p headless in the repo, commits, and reports back.

📚 Wiki.js + Postgres

The legacy knowledge hub and its database — still humming alongside the newer stack.

💻 Studio (ttyd)

A browser terminal running Claude Code, so the whole hub can be maintained from anywhere.

About

Thomas Thijs

I'm a maker who likes shipping real things for real people. My throughline is conversational intake — replacing cold forms with a chat that meets someone where they are, in their language, and turns the mess into something a professional can act on. When I'm not building for clients, I'm tending Aardstroom, our family's home-grown software.

Comfortable across the whole stack: product & design, AI/LLM plumbing on Vercel and Supabase, and the boring-but-vital ops and security work that keep it all running — from Docker and Caddy to encryption and EU-compliant data handling, done with specialists when it counts.

Have something to build?

Whether it's an intake flow that finally makes sense or a stubborn workflow that needs taming — I'd love to hear about it.
